My Review
I struggled to get into this book at first, but kept going and before long I was hooked. What a cracking tale it turned out to be.
The story is told by the main character, Avril, which means everything is from her point of view. When Daniel, a guy she was in a relationship with, asked her to escape out of The Towers, where they lived with him, she hadn’t expected him to bring his brother along. Especially because she and Don used to be best friends. At first it felt awkward between them as the trio go on the run. However, surviving becomes a priority and their relationships soon change.
I found this to be a spellbinding tale, one of those stories that grabs you and refuses to let go. I loved The Towers as it became addictive, the kind of book you want to pick up at every spare moment.
I also enjoyed the long paragraphs that pulled me right into Avril’s mind. It felt as though I knew her almost as well as she knew herself.
This book is a rollercoaster of a ride as life becomes tougher for them. I felt every hardship as if it were my own.

Book Blurb and Link
War, recession and pandemics have forced the government to build secure communities, designed to keep those inside safe. The Towers Projects, home hundreds. Kept away from the rest of the country, their lives and news of the outside world, heavily vetted.
Avril Forbes has spent ten years in one of these projects. Now, she needs to escape. She needs to follow her lover, and his younger brother to London. For their voices to be heard. Unfortunately, there is a chance they won’t make it.
Pandemic, recession, war. That’s how it goes. On repeat, no matter how many years have passed. There was only so much our country could take, before the Government built the Towers Projects. Nice contained communities. Designed, to keep us free from disease and conflict. Or so they told us.
Maybe the world was different now? Maybe we could leave and find out for ourselves? No, the powers that be want to keep us safe and compliant. They want good, healthy little pools of new soldiers.
I’ve lived in The Towers for the last ten years. Reliving the same, mundane existence within these sterile walls. Until one day, Daniel Lauder came to me with a *now or never* offer of freedom. Could I take it and leave The Towers? Leave my family and my friends? Or would I be destined to stay here as a pawn in whatever game our Government is playing?
