Some days I wake up with a head full of things I need to do. It’s almost like I forget about them, and then they all come rushing back at the same time. Those are also the days I get new ideas.
What do you do when that happens? I tend to make a list, then think about how long each task will take and which ones are more important. It really helps. And of course, being a blogger, I share it—because most of it involves my online world and creating content.
- My newsletter is going out later this month. I’ve started it, and now I have a better plan for the content—cue another list.
- Along with a group of authors, I’ve taken on a challenge to write a story about the love padlocks in Prague. After writing 5k words, the real story revealed itself, which means rewriting—as soon as I can, since I have a deadline.
- I’m working with another author, helping him edit his book—a rock ’n’ roll tale. He’s been waiting over a week for me to get to the next chapter.
- My novel Joanna’s Journey has had a complete rewrite, and I’m now on the last chapter.
- Toxic, my post-apocalyptic romance, has three chapters left to read aloud (I use Word’s read-aloud function for that). It’s booked in with my editor at the end of the month.
- I’ve had an idea for a graphic: my family and friends never read my books, so I’m trying to generate more interest by posting a few “author” updates on my Facebook newsfeed. It’s basically a reminder that I’m an author too.
- I’m listening to Robert Galbraith’s The Hallmarked Man. I’m on Chapter 121 with just an hour to go. I want to finish it—not so much to find out whodunit, but to see whether Robin and Strike are finally honest with each other.
Here are the three books I’ve talked about, and let’s be honest it’s the only time my books will appear next to a Robert Galbraith one!

I love your list. I’m a list maker too. I believe it’s the only reason I get anything done.
