I thought long and hard about whether to post this book—or to admit I even read it. But I wanted to acknowledge that I had, and to add it to my collection of books I’ve read this month.

I’d just finished a post-apocalyptic story and was looking for something similar.

As I love alien invasion tales, and sadly, there aren’t many of those around. (If you know of any, please recommend them!) I came across Invaded by Aliens while browsing Amazon.

Now, I’m fussy about what I read and look for stories under 300 pages and included in Kindle Unlimited. This was a short story, and being excited to read it, I downloaded the book and finished it within half an hour.

I didn’t pay attention to the warning just before Chapter One—in fact, I think my Kindle automatically opened just after it. There was nothing about the story being explicit in the description or the book categories, so I was caught off guard.

What I will say is that it was well-constructed and well-written. I found the aliens interesting.

The aliens are monsters, terrifying creatures made of tentacles and teeth, and fighting them is a battle humanity is losing. In a desperate attempt to shift the war in their favor, Anna sneaks onto an alien craft. But nothing is what it seems. The creatures are fascinated by the human who so foolishly stumbled into their midst. When the invasion is a certainty, will Anna fight or yield to otherworldly pleasures?

“Human,” one of them said from behind her.
A slit ripped open beneath a pair of black eyes to reveal a mouthful of jagged teeth. The monstrous mouth bared its teeth in a shark-like smile.
“Female human.” The alien’s voice sent a shiver down her spine. It would have been a pleasant baritone if not for the strange bass rumble that echoed every word, like many voices speaking at once.
As she watched, the three aliens in front of her began to melt into each other, merging into one larger creature.
“We should keep it,” a voice whispered in her ear.
