This came up on Amazon under – You might like this – and once I read the description, I was immediately sold.

I’ve read quite a few post-apocalyptic stories, but this one stood out as something different.

The plot was outstanding, and the storyline absolutely gripping.

A group of survivors exit a plane to find the world has changed. There’s a common denominator among them—a reason they survived when everyone else didn’t.

This is their journey to uncover the truth. What happened to wipe out humanity?

As they search for answers, they discover other survivors—each with a similar story. But when the truth is finally revealed, it only leads to more questions.

I could easily have read a whole series based on this story, but sadly, it’s a standalone.

It’s available on Amazon with over a thousand reviews.

However, the book has one major flaw—and after finishing it, I checked the reviews to see if others agreed. They did. There are numerous careless typos, poorly constructed sentences, and inconsistencies like character names being spelled differently. These issues really distracted from the story.

If you can overlook that, it’s still well worth reading—a gripping tale of human survival.

This book is also standalone and this is the stunning description

When Shelby Arnold slipped into the airplane bathroom to argue with her husband, she never would have thought it would save her life. But it did.

While she bickers with him over video chat, an unexplained phenomenon strikes the earth with devastating force and the world is plunged into darkness and silence.

In an instant, ninety percent of the population lose both their sight and their hearing.

Shelby is not one of them. She and a few others on Flight 1515 are spared the effects of the anomaly. Unfortunately, they are not spared the horrors of the world they face once they land.

A tragic, debilitating event for mankind quickly turns into an extinction level event, as those suddenly stricken with blindness and deafness are unable to navigate the challenges they face in the aftermath.

In the chaos, with so many affected, those like Shelby, who are spared are few and unable to do anything but search for

My Favourite Bits

Would the final leg of the journey be more of the same? Roadways littered with crashed cars and abandoned vehicles. The bodies of those who now succumbed to the heat because they could walk to get help.

The smell was reminiscent of being a teenager, engrossed in my grandmother’s cooking and love of Spam. It was a weird smell, but a better smell than what we had just dealt with at the church.

“You passed out hard and fortunately,” Trace said. “They had a pretty decent first aid kit on the plane. I bandaged that cheek even though I think it needs a stich or two.”
