My Review of Mark of Beast by Stephen Simpson

A Good Post Apocalyptic Story

The Mark of Beast by Stephen Simpson

Post Apocalyptic

Rating: 4 Stars

231 pages

Never judge a book by the cover, the saying goes. I’m afraid I was guilty of that with this book. I also assumed it was horror, but when I saw it advertised as post apocalyptic, my favourite subject, I downloaded it.

Inside was an imaginative thrilling story. It was different from the normal ones I read. Also,it was refreshing to have no gore, horror violence. It’s good to know these stories can be just as exciting without the graphic shock factor.

Lydia is the main character, a normal teenager living a normal life until nuclear bombs were set off in a variety of cities. This resulted in governments taking extreme measures to prevent terrorism by barcoding people.is there something sinister at work? You bet there is!

Post apocalyptic lovers will enjoy this just as I did.

This book is part of a duet.

They said it was the end of the world. For Lydia, it was only the beginning.

One minute seventeen-year-old Lydia Murphy’s at home in the quiet village of Alton Stine. The next—everything she loves is gone.

Now, with the world in chaos and whispers of the end times growing louder, Lydia is alone. No family. No safety. Just her faith, her wits, and a rising storm of darkness threatening to swallow what’s left of humanity.

But Lydia isn’t ready to give up—not when she’s starting to realize the truth: this isn’t just a fight for survival. It’s a war for the soul of the world. And the only way to win? Refuse to bow to the evil clawing its way into power. Even if it costs her everything.

Raw, gripping, and deeply spiritual, Mark of the Beast is a haunting dystopian horror about courage, conviction, and the light that refuses to go out—even in the darkest of times.

A clean-but-graphic supernatural thriller for readers 13+

My Favourite Bits

It looked like the government had forgotten about this little street and the houses were not very well looked after. Lydia felt nervous because this was one of those streets were the police and army would have a higher presence because it looked like a squalid area.

They heard sirens in the distance, and they all crouched down instinctively. They were too scared to talk.

Lydia was feeling a little anxious that they were all having dreams of her guiding them when she hardly knew what she was doing herself.
