Community Commandments by Anne Roberts

Brief Description – Bodies are turning up at ancient monuments on the beautiful isle of Anglesey.

This is possibly the fifth book of the series. I’ve not read them all, only the previous none, which I loved. Community Conclusions won my best read of 2024. That wasn’t a stand alone story, but Community Commandments is.

I loved it being set around the place I live. If you want a good crime novel set on Wales, this is it. DI Idris Huws has now retired but he helps the team bring to justice a particular nasty serial killer.

I loved the camaraderie within the team, and although there was plenty of reference to previous cases, it doesn’t distract from this one. In fact, it makes you wish you’d read them first.

The author cleverly keeps you on your toes. She makes you feel like one of the team as they eventually find the killer and solve the crime. Great ending too, as the group of detectives watch the court proceedings and celebrate afterwards.

An excellent crime thriller to put on your reading list.

Blurb

A Crime novel set on the Spiritual and beautiful Island of Anglesey in North Wales which sparkles and shows off her beauty by sparkling in the Irish sea is being shockingly defiled by someone who is committing the most horrific crimes, it seems in the name of religion. It is eroding its very essence.

What are their reasons for such brutality, the victims are it seems innocent people, being picked off at random.
Ex Detective Inspector Idris Huws is settling nicely at last into his new life and retirement, but his old team partners still appear to not have the confidence to go it alone to put this crime to sleep.
