I was asked recently which book is my favourite from those I’ve written. As I thought about it, I realised it’s always the one I’m working on.
At this moment in time I’m working on the final edits of Play the Game, which I hope will be out by the time you read this.
It set me up to think about other favourite things, like books I’ve read. There are so many it’s hard to choose, but usually it’s the one I’m reading at that time.
There is so much of everything these days, how does one ever make a choice?
Favourite child? I love both mine equally, just as my parents did with all of us.
Favourite film? One I watch for the first time, usually the last one.
Favourite song? I have just about six decades to choose from. The songs I love are all associated with different memories.
Interestingly, I was watching a YouTube tutorial on colour and apparently everyone has a colour palette. Could this be why I’ve never been able to choose a favourite?
My colours are always shades of blue and green, the earth colours. I love burnt orange because it’s warm, and also lilacs and purples. They always draw me.
So simply asking the question can often produce a not so simple answer.
Meanwhile, here are a few of my other favourite things.

I could never pick a favourite book of mine. That would be like picking a favourite child! But I have favourite books I’ve read. Anne of Green Gables would be on the top of the list but I have a list of about 20. I loved The Time Traveller’s Wife.
