Born this day in 1961, in Solihull, near the city of Birmingham. Mark Billingham initially pursued a career in acting before turning his attention to writing. His breakthrough came with the publication of his debut novel, “Sleepyhead,” in 2001. It introduced readers to the brilliant and complex detective Tom Thorne. The novel marked the beginning of a highly successful series that has spanned over a dozen books to date.
Although, I’ve not read any of his, I recently purchased this as a paperback. Luckily, it is one of his standalone books.

His writing is known for its meticulous attention to detail and research. Whether he’s exploring the dark underbelly of London or delving into the psychology of criminals. Mark Billingham’s novels are steeped in authenticity. The author has a deep understanding of human nature and crafts narratives that are both thrilling and thought-provoking.
He has written over 25 books and his D. I. Thorne has been turned into a TV series. Mark Billingham is a master story teller and continues to grown with every new release.
