Where did I find it: in the authors newsletter. It’s a new release and she was offering ARC copies. Having read and loved her previous apocalyptic series. I immediately asked for a copy
What I liked: the two main characters. They were both flawed, older than forty, and therefore a bit different. Most protagonists are under thirty, so this was a nice change.
What I didn’t like: the biting cold. All the power has gone, and most cars have stopped working. Everyone is fighting to survive. The snow falls and temperatures plummet. I felt I needed a coat to continue reading 🤣
Overall: the book is the first in a new post-apocalyptic series, and a great start. I immediately liked the main characters, Patrick and Holly. Both have personal issues to overcome. Holly escaped a mental hospital where she never probably shouldn’t have been, and Pat had left his job as a cop due to a leg injury. He’s accepted it, but missed the power of his badge. Finally, they meet up, and you know the next adventure is just around the corner.
