Book Review of Wings of Death by Ellen Read

Where did I find it: I follow the author and have read her books before. So when this came up as an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy), I jumped at the chance,

What I liked: how stylish it was. Everything in the story had a certain elegance to it. From the way they spoke to each other, to the vivid descriptions of furniture, architecture, and gardens. From Egyptian artefacts, to the spectacular dresses and beautiful people. It all laid a perfect setting to enter the world of fifties Australia, with visits to other major cities. An enjoyable story woven around such settings can only make for a good read.

What I didn’t like: initially, I didn’t like the main character. She was rude, selfish and thoughtless. But gradually as her story unfolded, I warmed to her.

Overall: I was thrilled to read a copy of this book before it went on sale. From today, it’s available for readers who love intriguing, and fascinating storylines. Ellen Read is a master storyteller whose interest in her subject is evident. Wings of Death is immensely entertaining with a classic whodunnit to keep you guessing throughout.
